Chaverim Kjipuktuk - Halifax Inclusive Jewish Community

Who are we?

We are a non-denominational, community-led, egalitarian group creating Jewish community spaces for antizionist and nonzionist Jewish people in Kjipuktuk (colonially known as Halifax).

This was born out of a need for local alternative Jewish spaces that are inclusive and affirming of people who are trans and queer, disabled, patrilineally Jewish, converts, non/antizionist, and/or in interfaith relationships.

You do not need to have any Jewish or Hebrew knowledge to be involved. Come as you are and participate as much or as little as you would like.

People of all ages are welcome.

What do we do?

We have monthly prayer services and schmoozing. The first hour and a half is prayer services, and the last hour is time to chat and connect as a community.

We also organize educational and cultural events, holiday celebrations and shared meals.

Not interested in coming for prayer services but still looking for community?

JFK (Just For Kiddish) it! We know that not all community members are interested in prayer spaces, but still want to connect with community. Feel free to join us after the prayer service has ended, to chat and connect.

We also organize educational and cultural events, holiday celebrations and shared meals.

Want to get involved?

We are a small group of friends working to build this space, and we would love to have more hands on deck. If you are interested in helping out please reach out to: info.chaverim@gmail.com.
